Pete married Sandra in 1991 on daughter, Kate's 1st birthday,
23rd February. He bacame a wonderful step father to Carl. Pete always kept his son, Kevin, in his
heart. Sadly Kevin died aged 10 and it took many many years for Pete to get over the death of his
son.
He also had a brother Sean who died in July 1999

Pete was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer on 5th April, 2007 and after bravely trying chemo was
offered palliative care from the wonderful team here in Fermanagh. Nurses Karen, Pauline, Margaret
and Kate offered support to Pete and the family. With their help Pete was able to stay at home
throughout his illness, their dedication and the love of his family meant that the pain was kept
under control and he was able to die at home with great dignity and with his family around him. His
greatest sadness was the loss of his physical strength and inability to eat his favourite foods.
Luckily he managed his night time brandy right up till the night before he left.

Pete had so many friends here in Ireland and back in Rugby. He worked at Midland Meat Packers for
many years and stayed in touch with so many of his old workmates. 2 of which came over to visit
flying back the same day!! One of his friends here in Garrison after hearing of his illness said "A
nicer man you couldn't wish to meet" and that really says it all.

The church was packed on the day of his funeral, with only a handful of our English friends able to
attend but we are planning a big get together in Rugby some time in January.
